Fat sits differently when you lie down. Dr. Tirmal marks you upright, in front of a mirror, and you agree on the map before anything else happens.
Tumescent anesthesia
A dilute local anesthetic solution is infiltrated into the fat layer. This is the slow, patient part of the visit, and it is what makes the rest of the procedure painless.
Two to three hours of contouring
You are awake and comfortable. Most patients listen to music or chat. Because you are not under general anesthesia, you can be asked to stand mid-procedure so symmetry is checked in real time.
You walk out
Compression garment on, driven home by a friend or family member, sore in the way a hard workout leaves you sore.
Back to desk work in three to five days
